After a morning of stocktaking and serious regrouping, the Starlets marched onto their training pitch in Trujillo yesterday afternoon determined more than ever to qualify to the next stage of the competition.
Coach David Duncan took his boys through the usual motions but it was the air of seriousness and great resolution that made this training session different from the rest.
Intermittently, Duncan seized the opportunity to point out some of the errors that his players made in their game against Costa Rica to them.
And always cautioned them to maintain their concentration and avoid being overly anxious.
Goalkeeper's trainer, Abubakari Damba, was busy with his three charges, exhorting them and re-enacting their mistakes for correction subsequently.
After the training session, the players who have lost about $3,000 each in winning bonuses as a result of the two draws recorded so far, swore to make amends tomorrow.
Goalkeeper of the side, Nana Bonsu, who has taken a lot of flak for letting in the lone goal against Costa Rica told Joy Sports, “We're ready to die for mother Ghana and nothing will stop us this time round. We're going all out for a win against China and we know we can do it.”
Bonsu maintains his defenders did not cover up well for him, hence, that sloppy goal he conceded on Monday.
Coach David Duncan remains upbeat that Ghana is still in with a shout. 'If we had won our match against Costa Rica we would be home and dry.
But it's not over.
We'll surely beat China and convincingly too in our last game', he intimated.
Ghana has two points and lies third on the group A chart after two draws, behind Costa Rica who are also on same points and group leaders China, now on four points.
