A deputy minister of education and Sports, O.B Amoah has confirmed to Joy sports the formation of Infrastructure Committees at the three cities earmarked for the construction of three new stadia to host the 2008 African Cup of Nations.
The regent of Tamale yesterday petitioned the Sports Ministry to investigate the formation of a new infrastructure committee in Tamale, chaired by the Deputy Northern Regional Minister.
But Mr. O.B Amoah says the committees have been formed at all three venues to facilitate the preparation of the sites for actual construction.
Meanwhile government is still locked in talks with the Chinese construction firm, Shanghai construction.
A delegation from the Chinese firm have been in town for almost one week and have already toured the proposed sites for the construction of three new stadia Sekondi, Cape Coast and Tamale.
O.B. Amoah also told Joy sports that government is hopeful of concluding the talks latest by the end of the week for work to begin.
