The Education and Sports ministry is to set up a committee to look into the $10,000 allocated to women’s football from a FIFA grant by the Ghana Football Association.
The move by government comes after the Ghana Women Soccer League Clubs Association (GHAWSOLCA) rejected its share of the ten thousand dollars as being inadequate for their use.
GHAWSOLCA has accused the GFA of being insensitive to women’s soccer.
At a meeting on Friday between the major stakeholders, the ministry promised to set up the committee to determine whether the funds allocated the game was adequate.
The women league club’s umbrella body has also threatened not to release players to the national Women Soccer team, the Black Queens, if its demand of a 70 per cent representation on the Seven-member National Women League Board is not met.
