The Black Starlets of Ghana would be pushing for a historic third title at the World under 17 championships which kicks off in Peru today.
The Black Starlets take on hosts Peru in the second match of the opening day of the tournament.
Ghana is bidding to win the cup for keeps after missing out on the competition for the past six years.
Meanwhile coach Sam Arday, the mastermind of Ghana’s last win at this level in Ecuador in 1995 has reposed confidence in David Duncan’s charges to win the ultimate.
The Feyenoord coach believes the team’s preparations in Brazil should stand them in good stead for a good showing in Peru.
The starlets return to the continent where they won the Under 17 trophy, in 1995 when Ecuador hosted it and would be hoping for repeat performance at Peru.
Ghana coach David Duncan though not entirely satisfied with the level of preparation of his team, is confident of getting what he has christened as the Peruvian crusade off to a winning start.
Ghana’s group opponents China and Costa Rica will play the opening game of the tournament.
