Ghana has moved up eight places up the log in this month’s edition of the FIFA world ranking released today by the sport governing body.
Ghana has moved from the seventieth it occupied last month to the sixty-second position on the world ranking table.
A draw by the Black Stars in an international friendly against Senegal’s Teranga Lions and a 2-0 win over Uganda’s Cranes in a world cup qualifier a fortnight ago can be attributed for the improvement.
No African country could manage a place in the top twenty. On the continental front, Ghana are placed eleventh now improving by just a place up.
Cameroon are the new overlords of Africa beating Egypt who drop to fourth with Tunisia taking the second spot.
Nigeria still maintain the third position on the ladder.
On the world stage, world champions Brazil lead the log with Netherlands and fellow South American rivals, Argentina following in that order.
Meanwhile, Tunisia, Togo, Ukraine, Panama, the USA and Switzerland are leading the race to be crowned Best Mover of the Year 2005.
The ranking represents the strength of 205 countries affiliated to FIFA and includes the national A-teams of all FIFA member associations who play international matches.
Not included in the calculation are matches played by junior teams or other representative national sides (such as the women's national team).
