Ghana’s soccer maestro, Abedi Pele, has told Nigeria’s young striker John Obi Mikel that he faces a tough quest for first team football, should he land his dream move to Chelsea.
Obi signed for Manchester United earlier this year, but in one of the most prolonged transfer sagas in recent history - he insists he has no intentions of moving to Old Trafford.
The Lyn star says he was forced into signing for United and would rather play at Stamford Bridge.
Abedi, a former African Footballer of the Year who played in some of Europe’s major leagues, believes Mikel would face a lot of time on the bench if he moved to West London.
Pele told Nigeria's SportChampion, "Mikel of course is a very good and intelligent player.
"He has got a lot of qualities no doubt, but my fear is that he may not find it easy breaking into the team easily because Chelsea parades a lot of good players."
Pele however insists there’s nothing wrong with the youngster’s desire to play for the Blues.
According to him, “The club is perhaps the most sought after today and it is the desire of virtually every player to star for The Blues."
