Former Bafana Bafana captain Neil Tovey has backed Stuart Baxter's side for victory in this weekend's World Cup qualifier against Burkina Faso.
A win in Ouagadougou could propel the South Africans vying for the lone ticket to Germany as Ghana, to the top of Group B.
The South Africans are hoping that Cape Verde will halt Ghana’s campaign although they claim the Black Stars have an easy home tie against Uganda this weekend.
Tovey, who captained SA to victory in the African Cup of Nations in 1996 and is now a soccer presenter for SuperSport says, "It is a crucial, crucial match for Bafana.
"If we win both our matches I have a sneaky feeling we could top the group.
"Ghana should win against Uganda this weekend but their last match is against Cape Verde, who are still in the running for an African Cup of Nations spot and so have a lot to play for."
The Bafana Bafana's final match is a home tie against the Democratic Republic of Congo on October 7. The top three teams in each group qualify for next year's continental competition.
Meanwhile, South African coach, Stuart Baxter says a win for the Bafana Bafana a day before Ghana’s game would put the pressure on the Black Stars.
"Not so long ago Ghana were the hunters and we were the hunted.
It took only one match for the tables to turn and anything can happen this weekend.
"If we win on Saturday, the pressure will suddenly be on them again," said Baxter after announcing a strong 24-man squad on Wednesday.
“Nonetheless, the ideal situation would be to be on top of the log. I have heard that the final matches will be played simultaneously. FIFA should have had the same rules for this round as well."
