Ghana’s most celebrated club, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, is marking seventy years of existence today.
But club officials have decided to mark the day on the quiet.
The last time Asante Kotoko celebrated such a special occasion with enough media hype and a packed itinerary was six years ago under the Herbert Mensah administration when the club hit 65.
But for a historical piece in the club’s official mouthpiece, the Kotoko Express, on the formation of the club, there’s been little or no talk about the birthday.
No official statement has been issued by the club’s life patron, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the board of directors or the management team in celebration of the day.
Kumasi Asante Kotoko was founded in 1935 by a local schoolteacher called Kwame Frimpong.
