Despite rain ensuring that there was no play on the first day of the OneTouch Premier League’s second round for some six teams scheduled to have played on Sunday, three other sides were heavily involved in the competition for honours.

All three matches - Professionals -Hasaacas, Tema Youth-Olympics and Hearts of Oak-Real Sportive – in the Ghanaian capital, Accra, did not come off due to the wet weather conditions but in Berekum, Kpando and Abrankese, the second round of the league got off there.

Already, two games were scheduled to have been played later on Monday and Thursday.

The league fixture between King Faisal and Gamba All Blacks had been moved ahead to Monday while the outstanding match between Kumasi Asante Kotoko - involved in continental football this weekend – and Real Tamale United comes off at the Tamale Sports Stadium on May 1.

In Kpando, Heart of Lions had the opportunity to leapfrog Liberty Professionals – game rained off - to second place after beating Wa All Stars 1-0.

Emmanuel Banahene’s 6th minute goal separated both sides for the remaining 84th minutes of play despite a strong fight back from the Wa-based team.

And the winning story continued at the Golden City Park where Berekum Arsenals moved into a top four position with a 3-0 win over Zaytuna FC.

Francis Aggrey put the Gunners in the lead after 6 minutes before Agyemang Badu made it 2-0 ten minutes later.

The Gunners completed a good day’s work in the second half when new signing, Osman Sakora finished off brilliantly to make it 3-0 for the home team.

The spoils were shared at the Anane Boateng Stadium where AshantiGold drew 1-1 with home side, Kessben FC, a result which sees the Miners drop out of the top four on the table.

Kessben jumped into the lead just three minutes into the start of the game through Bismark Idan but that lead lasted for only five minutes.

Owusu Sefa responded well when he levelled up for the Miners to give caretaker coach, Mohammed Gargo a point to savour as he begins his coaching career with the Obuasi-based team.
