Asante Kotoko turn their attention to the continental front as their search for success continues on Sunday when they begin their 2009 CAF Champions League campaign.

The Ghanaian champions face Moroccan side Ittihad Khemisset in the second round of the club competition in Sekondi.

Kotoko have to honour that game at the Sekondi Stadium in Sekondi as they begin a three game home ban imposed on them by the Confederation of African Football after their fans assaulted Africa's top referee Coffie Codjiah in a Confederation Cup game against Etoile du Sahel last year.

Third in the domestic league, Kotoko will be under some pressure to deliver after recording a shocking home defeat in midweek in the Glo Premier League.

The club’s hope of advancing in the competition rests with coach Isaac Opeele Boateng as he tries to revive their struggling season. But the players claim they are up for it and midfielder Jordan Opoku has urged them to turn on the style on Sunday.

"Despite the pain we have caused our fans in Africa in the past 27 years, they will support us everywhere we go. Therefore, I believe this is the time for us to show appreciation for their support and start very well against the Moroccans," he said.
