Isaac Opeele Boateng breathes life to Asante Kotoko's title challenge as he led the Porcupine Warriors to a 2-1 win over former club, Tema Youth.

The former Tema Youth coach was handed the reigns of the club after the Belgian Maurice Cooreman was sacked on Tuesday morning.

Despite the win at the Ohene Djan Stadium on Thursday which sends Kotoko to second on the Glo Premier League standings, they remain seven points behind arch rivals Hearts of Oak.

Two second half goals from Daniel Nii Adjei and Stephen Manu gave Kotoko a comfortable lead.

Tema Youth winger, Ekow Benson pulled one back from a free-kick.

The win comes as a big boost for Kotoko for last Sunday's 1-2 defeat at the hands of leaders, Hearts of Oak in Kumasi.

But for Tema Youth, it’s another bad result as they continue to drop off the pace, having picked up only two points from a possible 12 from their last four games.
