Accra Hearts of Oak have started the process of rebuilding with their first capture ahead of the new season being coach, Kostadin Papic.

The Serbian coach, who takes over from Israeli coach, Eyal Lachman who quit the club in May would be assisted by former club player and fans favourite, Sam Johnson.

Johnson, a former Ghana international ended his playing career early this year after enjoying playing times with Fenerbache, Gaziatanspor, Gaziantepspor, Kayserispor all in the Turkish league, Anderlecht in Belgium and Greek side, Kalamata.

Papic, who has agreed a three-year deal with the Phobians would be expected to challenge for the league title won this season by Hearts’ dreaded rivals, Asante Kotoko.

The 48 year-old Papic has had stints with South Africa league sides Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates and also handled Nigerian sides like Lobi Stars, Enyimba FC and Enugu’s Rangers International.

His last job before agreeing to the Phobian deal was with an Academy side in Randburg.

The Phobians, who failed to defend their league title won last year, missed the opportunity to play in any of the continental competitions after finishing the season at a miserable 8th position, judging by their own high standards.
