Former Ghana international, Mohammed Gargo will take charge of his first game as caretaker coach of AshantiGold in a Cup game.

The Miners would play Sunday’s SWAG Cup match against Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Gargo has been handed temporary technical responsibility at the club in the absence of David Duncan and could be confirmed as the new coach if the club’s board concurs with the management.

The 33-year-old was a member of the national Under-17 side that gained hero status after winning the world title in 1991.

He then made the move from Real Tamale United to Torino in Italy for a then Ghanaian record fee of $300, 000 before going to play for Udinese whom he later captained.

With the experience of having played at the at the world Under-20 Olympic level and at the Africa Nations Cup, the Obuasi club is convinced they have the right man for the top job.
