Ghana assistant coach Kwesi Appiah says the Black Stars did not deserve to have lost the semi-final game against Zambia on Wednesday.

The Black Stars totally dominated the game but went on to lose 1-0 to the Chipolopolo in the last four fixture of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations.

The result dashed the hopes of the Black Stars as their chase for a fifth title must wait until next year.

Appiah says the Black Stars gave everything to secure victory but were undone by a goal from Emmanuel Mayuka in the second half.

“We dominated most of the game but is unfortunate that out of one of their two chances, they had a goal against us," Appiah said at the post-game press conference at the Estadio de Bata.

“I don’t personally think anything went wrong. It is just one of those things in the game.”

Ghana will have to pick the pieces ahead of their third-place fixture with Mali on Saturday in Malabo. The Black Stars beat Mali 2-0 in the group stages of the competition.

However, the assistant coach says there's lots to be done to lift the players for their final game.

“At the moment, everyone is down. I don’t think we deserved to go out of this competition but that’s the nature of the game,” he said.

“We would do a lot of talking and psyching up to bring their morals up. It’s not easy but we will do our best.”
