Teenager Jordan Ayew has revealed his surprise at earning an invitation into the Black Stars for the African Nations Cup qualifier against Swaziland.

The attacking midfielder has been handed his first senior call up by Milovan Rajevac, who continues to blood new talent with his experienced bunch.

The 18 year-old who had an earlier call up into Ghana's Under-20 team for a game turned down by his club, Olympique Marseille says he least expected an invitation from the senior team.

“I must say that I was a bit shocked when my club told me about an invitation to play for the Black Stars because I was also thinking about playing for the Under-20 to qualify for the African Cup,” he said.

With competition for places in the squad for next month's African Nations Cup qualifying high, Jordan, who would be arriving with his teammate and senior brother, Andre, is anxious for his first international duty.

“But I’m ready and prepared to play my part,” the attacking player added.

Jordan, the youngest player in the 22-man squad named by Rajevac will be chasing his first cap on September 5 when Ghana travels away to play Swaziland in the opening Group I game in Lombamba.
