Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Jeffrey Sarpong is the latest ex-junior international of a European country to commit to Ghana after telling the GFA he will be available for Black Stars selection.

GFA vice-president Fred Pappoe revealed exclusively to KickOffGhana.com that the 20-year old who broke into the Ajax first team last season has contacted the GFA to make himself available for selection in future.

Sarpong represented Holland at the World U-17 Championships in 2005 in Peru but with little prospect for rising up the main Dutch national team has decided to turn his attention to Ghana.

Pappoe say the GFA have referred the case of Sarpong and Kevin-Prince Boateng to Milovan Rajevac who will now keep an eye on both players as he plans for Ghana’s last three world cup qualifiers later in the year.

Sarpong was born to a Ghanaian father and a Nigerian mother in Amsterdam and joined Ajax when he was just seven years.

He can play in midfield, as a support striker and as a left winger.

If his switch is formalised he will become the second player to switch from Holland to Ghana after Quincy Owusu Abeyie turned out for Holland at the 2005 World Youth Championships and later for Ghana at the 2008 Nations Cup.
