Team doctors of the junior national team have ruled out striker, Abeiku Quansah from Ghana’s return game against the Ivory Coast next Sunday.
Ghana would host the Ivorians at the Sunyani Coronation park in the second round fixture of the final eliminator for qualification to next years African Junior Championship to be hosted by Togo.
The striker who got Ghana’s only goal in the game fractured his shoulder during the first leg tie against the Ivory Coast in Abidjan.
Ghana went down 3-1 and would need a 2-0 win at home to edge out the Ivorians and qualify for the Championship.
Abeiku Quansah picked up the shoulder injury when he was tripped in the box after the striker rounded up the Ivorian goalkeeper, Serge Akoudjou.
The player fell awkwardly on his shoulder resulting in the injury.
Quansah was immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment and referred to Ghanaian doctors the next day (Monday).
Seven out of the 14 countries in this second and final round will join host Togo in the finals of the African Junior Championship that takes place from 11 to 25 March 2007.
