Ghana confirmed their intent of mounting a successful African Youth Championship defence with a commanding defeat of Namibia in Accra.

The Black Satellites did impress as they got off the first leg of their first round qualifying with a 4-0 victory at the Ohene Djan Stadium on Sunday.

Two goals apiece in each half from Mahatma Otoo, Abdul Aziz Yusif and a double by Frank Acheampong handed the defending Africa Under-20 champions a good start as coach Orlando Wellington aims for a place at the 2011 finals to be staged by Libya.

First-half goals from Otto and Acheampong put the Black Satellites in the driving seat before the game headed into recess as Genoa's Richmond Boakye-Yiadom made his Ghana debut.

There was more defensive work by the Black Satellites' back four as they ensured a clean sheet in the opening half.

After the interval, Ghana continued to push and doubled the scoreline as Abdul Aziz scored the third goal before Acheampong grabbed a brace when he scored the fourth goal.

The result gives Ghana an advantage ahead of the return leg in a fortnight with a place in the second round of qualifying to play for.

Line up

Akwasi Acheampong, Bright Addae, Francis Morton, Rashid Sumaila, Karim Alhassan, James Bissue/Jackson Owusu, Ebo Andoh/Abdul Aziz Yusif, Kwame Nsor, Richmond Boakye Yiadom/Aaron Amoah, Mahatma Otoo, Franck Acheampong
