Ghana survived a late Hungary attack to reach the finals of the U-20 World Cup in Egypt.

The Black Satellites won the five-goal thriller 3-2 in Cairo to set up a date in Friday's finals with either Brazil or Costa Rica.

A brace by Dominic Adiyiah within 31 minutes put Ghana in a comfortable position of making it to their third final appearances in the competition.

The Norway-based striker bundled the ball over the line to register his first after Andre Ayew had seized upon a loose ball slipped it towards the net after beating goalkeeper Gulacsi.

Later, Adiyiah was on hand at the far post to nod in a cross from Inkoom. His second on the day but eighth in the competition.

Ghana headed into the break 2-nil up and 45 minutes away from the finals.

But the Hungarian side rallied on to pull a goal back through Marko Futacs in the 72nd minute after David Addy had slipped in his bid to clear a ball at his feet.

The goal threatened Ghana's hopes of playing in the finals but Abeiku Quansah scored on 81 minutes, a goal which made the difference and seemed to have put the game beyond the Eastern Europeans.

However, three minutes after Quansah's stunning goal, Ghana's frailties at the back was exposed again as Balajti popped up in the box to slot the ball past Daniel Agyei into the net.

From then on, Ghana were reeling under pressure as Agyemang Badu crushed his 30 yard shot onto the crossbar.

Though a tough finish, Ghana held on strongly to withstand the Hungary threat to reach the finals.

Friday's finals would be Ghana's third similar feats in 1993 and 2001.

Ghana are yet to win the world title after two failed attempts at winning the trophy in 1993 and 2001.
