Despite a winning start for Ghana at the World Youth Championship against Uzbekistan on Saturday, coach Sellas Tetteh is looking for improvements from his side for the up-coming games.
Next for Ghana on Tuesday are Brian Eastick’s English side who lost their opening.
The Black Satellites’ win in Ismailia came the hard way as Ghana had to recover from a goal down to win 2-1 with strikers Ransford Osei and Dominic Adiyiah finding target to claim all three points for the African Champions.
In the build up to the game, Sellas Tetteh had talked about how difficult opening games were and also the threat posed by the Uzbeks.
But after producing such a result, the former Under-17 team coach is demanding a better performance from his team and says Saturday’s match was a ‘wake-up call’ for Ghana.
“It was a very difficult game, but first matches in a tournament can be like that. We put everything to win. I wasn't satisfied with the first half performance - and the goal served as a wake-up call for us.
“This was a lesson. We have two more games to play and we can't afford to start playing after going a goal behind. But I was delighted that we came back so strongly,” Ghana’s coach said after the game.
Ghana would head into the next game top of the Group D table after England lost 0-1 to Uruguay.
