Ghana will play Brazil in the women's qualification play-off match for a place in the Beijing Olympic Games after going down 2-0 to Nigeria in Abuja today.
Two goals, one in each half by the Super Falcons helped them clinch Africa’s automatic qualification to the 2008 Beijing Games as the final qualifying campaign for the women’s game was brought to an end.
Nigeria, though level on 9 points like Ghana, qualify by virtue of a superior goal advantage in the three-team qualifying campaign that also included South Africa.
Ghana will now play Brazil on April 19 in Beijing, at the Workers’ Stadium in the play-off to determine who picks the last slot for the Olympic Games to vied for between a team from the CAF region and another from CONMEBOL.
The Black Queens’ game with the Brazilians in the qualification play-off match will be played a day before the draw for the finals of the Olympic Football Tournaments 2008, takes place in Beijing.
