Ghana coach, Mumuni Gamel is confident the Black Queens will come good in Saturday’s decider of the 2008 Olympic Games qualifier against Nigeria.
The Black Queens are away to Nigeria’s Super Falcons at the Abuja Stadium in a battle for the sole African qualifying place at the Beijing Games as the qualifying campaign winds down this weekend for the women’s game.
Gamel, who took over the Black Queens barely two weeks ago, was the man in charge to qualify Ghana for the finals of the African Women Championship and is equally optimistic of securing another qualification, this time at the expense of Nigeria.
"We are beating Nigeria tomorrow," Ghana’s coach told the GNA at the team’s camp in Nigeria on Friday.
Nigeria, rated as Africa’s best team have remained unbeaten at home but have gone down twice to Ghana in the past.
Despite the tough task that his team faces, Gamel is ready to turn the tide this time round.
"I am convinced the Queens' mental and psychological toughness will overwhelm the Falcons, who have ruled Africa for several years."
"The kind of training we have put the team through, coupled with their will to succeed will ensure we stay on top throughout the game."
Ghana, who won the reverse fixture 1-0 at home last August, need a draw against the Super Falcons to clinch an automatic and a historic qualification to the Beijing Games.
The Black Queens hold a hundred percent record in the qualifying campaign after defeating Nigeria at home and recording back-to-back wins over South Africa.
The runners up of the three-team group will still have a chance of making it to Beijing when they play Brazil in a play-off for a place in the finals of the 2008 Olympics.
