With the start of another qualifying campaign, Ghana’s senior women’s team, the Black Queens would catch all the attention as the Africa Women Championship qualification campaign begins this weekend.
Qualification for the 6th African Women Championship enters the first round stage this weekend as Ghana, who drew a bye in the preliminary round play away to Ivory Coast in the first leg match.
Ghana, yet to win an African Women Championship title would be attempting to secure a place in the finals of the competition to be hosted by Equatorial Guinea.
The Black Queens, ranked Africa’s second best team would play the Ivorians on February 23 in Macoury at 15:30GMT before hosting their opponents in the return clash at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra on March 8.
Black Queens coach, Isaac Paha has been preparing the team made up of solely locally-based players at the national camp in Prampram as Ghana leave for the game on Thursday.
Ghana took silver in the last competition hosted by Nigeria in 2006 after losing out 1-0 to the host nation in the finals.
