Ghana would greatly improve its chances of qualifying for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games if they pick a win against South Africa’s womens team on Sunday.
The Black Queens play the Bayana Bayana in the penultimate round of the African qualifiers at the Ohene Djan Stadium in a late afternoon kick off.
A win would see the Black Queens complete a double over the Bayana Bayana and maintain their hundred percent record in the qualifiers while moving them within touching distance of landing the continent’s automatic spot for the Olympic Games.
The top placed team qualifies automatically for the Beijing 2008 Olympics with the runners-up engaging Brazil in the Play off.
Ghana beat South Africa by a lone goal in Johannesburg during the first leg game in August and are hopeful of achieving victory on Sunday.
Black Queens captain, Adjoa Bayor is upbeat about Ghana’s chances against the South Africans.
“We are very sure we will defeat the South Africans because we have prepared for them. We are not taking chances and will go all out.”
Ghana coach, Isaac Paha also stresses the importance of victory when he says: "We will do our best to ensure victory come Sunday."
