Women’s World Cup finalist, the Black Queens arrived home Monday morning from the 5th edition of the African Women’s Championship where they grabbed silver.
A large crowd thronged the airport in the capital, Accra to give their Queens a rousing welcome.
The seniors women’s national side on Saturday picked up silver after going down by a lone goal in the final to host, Nigeria in Warri.
Saturday’s final tie was the third time both nations had met in the grand finale of the women’s competition.
Ghana and Nigeria would both be representing Africa at next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup to be hosted by China.
The two finalist picked the continent’s two slots for the world cup.
Though the Black Queens lost, Ghana still remains the only nation to have beaten Nigeria in women’s football on the continent.
The Black Queens recorded a 1-0 victory over the Super Falcons in 2002 edition of the African Women’s Championship.
Ghana secured a place in the final berth after topping Group B where the Black Queens kept a clean sheet winning all three games.
The Black Queens beat Mali, Cameroon and DR Congo in the group stage before edging out South Africa in the semi finals.
