Ghana has qualified for next year's FIFA Women's World Cup to be hosted by China by reaching the finals of the African Women's Championship.
The women's team beat South Africa 1-0 in the semi finals.
Florence Okoe scored Ghana's only goal through a penalty kick in the 88 minute after tournament sensation, Anita Amankwah was hacked down.
Ghana, two-time runners up would now make a third final appearance and play against old foes, Nigeria who have won every African Championship since 1998, and also accounted for the Black Queens' in their two final defeats.
Ghana secured a semi final berth after topping Group B where the Black Queens kept a clean sheet winning all three games.
The Black Queens beat Mali, Cameroon and DR Congo in the group stage before edging out South Africa in the semi finals on Tuesday in Oghara.
Ghana, highly rated in women’s football are bent of rewriting the scripts in the female sport which Nigeria has dominated over the years, winning the competition on four occasions.
The Black Queens remain the only team in Africa to have beaten Nigeria, with a 1-0 victory in the 2002 edition of the African Women's Championship.
Nigeria secured their final berth after thumping Cameroon in the first semi final match 5-0 in Warri on Tuesday.
Both finalists apart from battling for the African crown also secure automatic qualification to the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup scheduled for China in September.
The final of the 5th African Women's Championship will be played in Warri on Saturday November 11.
