Ghana beat DR Congo 3-1 on Saturday in the final group game to finish tops of Group B at the 5th African Women’s Championship.
Anita Amankwah continued with her impressive form hitting her second successive brace for Ghana.
The 17 year-old attacker put Ghana in the lead before the 22nd minute.
Anita doubled it up ten minutes later to end the first half 2-0 for the Black Queens.
DR Congo pulled one back in the second half before substitute, Florence Okoe put the game beyond the Congolese scoring the third goal for Ghana with six minutes remaining.
Ghana thus set a semi final date with South Africa on Tuesday.
Cameroon joins Ghana from Group B into the semi final stage after beating Mali 2-0 in the last group game.
The Indomitable Lionesses would play host, Nigeria’s Super Falcons in the first semi final match.
Ghana before Saturday’s victory over DR Congo had already booked a place in the semi finals after having beaten Mali 1-0 in the opening day match and recording a 2-1 win over Cameroon in the second Group B match.
Nigeria topped Group A after beating South Africa 2-0 on Friday while Algeria and Equatorial Guinea settled for a thrilling 3-3 draw in Oghara to grab their first points of the competition.
The two finalists would battle it out for the title at stake and also secure automatic qualification to the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup scheduled for China in September.
The Black Queens are hopeful of clinching the continental title, which they have missed out narrowly on two occasions, losing out to Nigeria in both finals.
Ghana, highly rated in women’s football are bent of rewriting the scripts in the female sport which Nigeria has dominated with the Super Falcons eyeing a fifth African Women's Championship.
The Black Queens remain the only team in Africa to have beaten Nigeria, with a 1-0 victory in the 2002 edition of the African Women's Championship.
