Ghana would secure a place in the semi finals with a win over Cameroon on Wednesday in the African Women’s Championship.
The Black Queens top Group B with three points after winning their opening group game 1-0 over Mali on Sunday.
Ghana have beaten the Cameroonians once during a semi final clash in the 2002 edition of the competition when the Black Queens beat the Indomitable Lionesses 2-1 in the same competition.
Cameroon also managed to edge Ghana out in the 2004 semi-finals, but then lost 4-0 to Nigeria in the deciding match.
The Cameroonians, also tipped to make it for the semi finals started off the competition with a 1-1 draw against DR Congo.
But the Black Queens would seek to wrap up qualification for the semi finals with victory over the Indomitable Lionessed and edge closer to their first major continental success when they meet in Ughelli.
In the other Group B game, DR Congo play Mali in Oghara.
Ghana are paired with the women’s sides of Cameroon, DR Congo and Mali in Group of the 5th edition of the African Women’s Championship which kicked off on Saturday in Nigeria.
The two finalist apart from battling it out for the title at stake, both secure qualification to the 2007 FIFA Women’s World Cup to be hosted by China.
Ghana, highly rated in women’s football are bent of rewriting the scripts in the female sport which Nigeria has dominated over the years, winning the competition on four occasions.
Meanwhile, Nigeria and South Africa have both secured places in the semi finals after winning their second Group A matches on Tuesday.
The Super Falcons flayed Algeria 6-0 while the Bayana Bayana beat Equatorial Guinea 2-0.
Both Nigeria and South Africa clash in the next group game while Algeria and Equatorial Guinea play in their last match of the competition before exiting.
