Ghana has set up a date with Nigeria in the final eliminator for the All-African Games after edging out Ivory Coast over a two-leg tie.
The Olympic team beat their Ivorian opponents 4-3 on penalties after a tied 2-2 drawn game over two legs.
Ghana's shot stopper, Eric Nii Baah saved two kicks to help the Black Meteors qualify for the final stage of the qualifying series.
The game was the return leg of the All-African Games qualifier on Saturday.
Two weeks ago at the Sunyani Coronation Park, Ghana managed a 2-0 win over their Ivorian opponents.
But the Ivorians fought hard before an expectant home crowd to send the game into penalties.
After a goalless first half, the Ivorians returned in the second half and shot into the lead.
With the minutes ticking away, Ghana conceded a penalty which the Ivorians scored to draw level.
At 2-2, it was time for penalties. And Ghana captain, Michael Helegbe stepped up to cancel the lead by their opponents.
Nafiu Iddrisu had his first kick saved but the referee awarded a retake of the kick and the striker was spot on this time.
Michael Akuffo scored the third kick then goalkeeper Eric Nii Baah produced two great saves stopping the fourth and final kick of the Ivorians.
Ghana's Abraham Annan missed the fourth kick but defender Isaac Vorsah scored the last kick to send Ghana into the next stage of the qualifying series.
The win in Abidjan sets up a straight fight between Ghana and Nigeria for the only available slot in Zone III.
