Olympic team coach, Cecil Jones Attuquayefio has left with his Black Meteors squad to Abidjan for the return leg of the All-Africa Games qualifier against Ivory Coast.
The celebrated Ghana coach before the team’s departure on Thursday was in buoyant mood as the Olympic team would be entering Sunday’s game with a 2-0 win in the first leg.
And total victory over the Ivorians in the two-legged eliminator would see Ghana set up a date with rivals, Nigeria for the single Zone III slot for September’s All-Africa Games to be hosted by Algeria.
The Nigerian’s drew a bye in Zone III.
Though Jones is confident of Ghana’s chances in Abidjan, he expects a tough battle from the Ivorians but says he is eager to ensure Ghana’s qualification for the All-African Games this year.
“I know the importance the nation attaches to football and the national team. We have confidence in our abilities and I think we would make it,” Jones said.
The technical team of the Black Meteors say they have been impressed with the preparations since returning to camp after Boxing Day.
