The male Olympic side’s four-game unbeaten run was brought to an end on Sunday as the Black Meteors lost 3-0 to Liberty Professionals at the Carl Riendorff Park.
The game was the fifth for the Black Meteors as head coach; Cecil Jones Attuquayefio continues his assessment of the thirty-eight man squad.
Liberty Professionals showed their knack for goals in both halves of the game as the Black Meteors failed to match the strength of the formidable premiership side.
Mohammed Mensah put the home team in the lead scoring for Liberty in the first half.
Liberty Professionals held onto the solitary lead to end the first half.
Back from recess, Liberty Professionals upped the scoreline after forcing the Black Meteors to concede a penalty.
Former Asante Kotoko attacker, Michael Osei scored from the spot kick to make 2-0 for Liberty Professionals.
Wahid Mohammed got the third goal for Liberty Professionals.
Though beaten, Black Meteors coach Cecil Jones Attuquayefio says he is not disturbed by the scoreline at this stage of their build up, but is rather looking at the positives of the game.
“It’s been a useful exercise so far. The aim so to afford us (technical team) the opportunity to assess our players and not to field a strong team at this stage.
“We are satisfied with what have seen at this stage and would be moving to the next stage of preparations where the squad would be pruned from thirty-eight to twenty-five,” Jones said.
The Black Meteors drew their four games, prior to the game against Liberty Professionals.
Asante Kotoko were the first to draw 1-1 with the Black Meteors before Bofoakwa Tano also forced a 3-3 drawn game.
Then Accra Great Olympics forced a 1-1 draw before Tema Youth also drew goalless.
