Bernard Mensah's debut goal for the senior national team gave Ghana a 1-0 win in their friendly against Togo at the Accra Stadium on Monday

The Victoria Guimaries midfielder scored the only goal of the game minutes before the first half ended.

The second half started with the introduction of Black Stars skipper Asamoah Gyan, midfielder Agyemang Badu and Jeffrey Schlupp.

And despite efforts to go for more goals, Ghana failed to convert the opportunities that came their way.

Though Ghana could not score more goals, captain Asamoah Gyan insists the team achieved their targets for the friendly match.

"It was a good game because the match was a build up to our AFCON qualifier on Sunday".

"It was to help the team put the tactics we have been going through into practice", Gyan told Ghanafa.org after the match.

Coach Avram Grant also told the media after the match that the test game was a good experience for his team.

He expressed delight at Bernard Mensah's debut goal and promised that he will work on identifying more of such talents for the national team.

" The match was a good experience for my team and we are satisfied with the outcome of today's match".

"Mensah is one of the players I have been monitoring over the last three months and I can promise you he wont be the last one", Grant said at the post match press conference".

The team will begin residential camping on Thursday ahead of Sunday's AFCON qualifying match against Mauritius.
