Kumasi Asante Kotoko were the outstanding winners at the 2007/08 PLB Awards Night in Accra taking every category they were nominated for.

Kotoko's star of the last campaign Eric Bekoe led the sweep by the taking the Most Valuable Player of the season award and the brand new VW Souran car that was at stake.

He beat Heart of Lions striker Dominic Adiyah and his club mate Harrison Afful to the award the prize.

Bekoe scored 17 League goals in a prolific campaign even when he missed at least seven games at a time when he was with the Black Stars at the start of the 2010 World Cup campaign in June.

Apart from Bekoe's Most Valuable Player Award, Kotoko took the defender of the season which was won by Harrison Afful, Coach of the Year which went to Bashir Hayford, who is presently in dispute with the club, Chief Executive of the Year for Sylvester Asare-Owusu.

Their Burkina Faso goalkeeper Soulama Abdoulaye won the goalkeeper of the year while Kotoko fans took the best club supporters category.

The sweep was widely expected in a season where Kotoko were the best team in the domestic league by some distance.

They successfully defended their league crown with a 16 point margin between themselves and second placed Heart of Lions and had both the best attack which scored more goals than any other side and the best defence which conceeded only 17 goals in 30 league games.

Normally Kotoko's biggest rival on any platform, Accra Hearts of Oak's miserable season was reflected by just the one award they picked up which was the discovery of the year for Kofi Abanga.

But it is one the Phobians will be massively proud of after beating Kotoko to the signature of the midfielder who went on to win more than six player of the match awards during the season.

Kumasi King Faisal won the Fair Play Award for picking up the least yellow cards while Suhum based referee was judged referee of the year with Haruna Ayouba picking up assistant referee of the year.
