Ghana's AshantiGold would have to overcome a faltering first leg defeat in the Champions League if they are to proceed past the second round stage.

The Miners, Ghana's sole contenders in the competition, lost heavily to JS Kabylie (JSK) of Algeria in the first leg fixture of the second round fixture by 3-0 on Friday.

JSK won the game thanks to a brace from Nabil Hemani after Yacine Amaouche had opened the scoring for the home side, just three minutes into the start of game.

AshantiGold will host the return leg at their favourite Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi in a fortnight.

And that's a game the Miners will have to win by overturning the deficit if they are to progress to the third round.

The winner of the tie will play either Nigeria's Gombe United or Cameroon's Cotonsport.
